Get Your Skippers Ticket

The City is facilitating a certificate of competency in a Recreational Skippers Ticket for (RST) 16-24 year olds.

As part of the popular In2Lyfe youth skills workshop series, the training will take place across two weekends; the first session is a Skippers Ticket Presentation from 8am to 1pm Saturday 13 October at the Volunteer Sea Rescue Group, Point Peron Road, Cape Peron, and will provide participants with everything they need to know to be successful in obtaining their Ticket.

On completion of the theory component, participants can organise a practical assessment with an authorised assessor from 9am Saturday 20 October.

A RST is a certificate of competency not a license and participants are required to demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills that are required to safely operate a boat.

City of Rockingham Mayor Sammels said the class is being offered as a result of feedback received from the participants of the popular Gone Fishing Program requesting recreational aquatic opportunities: “This is a great opportunity for young people to expand their knowledge and life skills.

“It will open new doors for them, and could even bring volunteer opportunities with the Volunteer Sea Rescue Group to help keep beaches safe.”

The cost is $20 per person and confirmation of bookings take place once payment is received.
